SILVERSUN PICKUPS DELAY SQUEALS

Post by hurghanico »

Brian Aubert of Silversun Pickups likes to chain delay pedals one set to normal time and feedback and another set to very short time and maxed-out, squealing feedback and toggle them back and forth by stepping on both at the same time. It's most obvious in "Lazy Eye" at the end of selected phrases.

1. In the System Menu, turn trails OFF.

2. Create a patch with two of the same delay models one after the other. Set:
  1. The first delay block to taste nothing obnoxious, something you can play throughout a song (leave this block on)
  2. The second delay block with Time set to 20 ms, Feedback at 100%, and Mix somewhere above 50% (turn this block OFF)
3. Press VIEW to exit and hold ENTER to access the FS AGGIGN page.

4. Cursor to your first delay block and press FS1.

5. Cursor to the second delay block and press FS1.

6. Press VIEW to exit.

Toggle FS1 on only at the end of select phrases to get that guitar freaking out tease (before it starts really squealing). Add a bit of Fuzz Pi and/or Screamer models ahead and run it all into the Brit J-800.

Then hang out on Silverlake and Sunset, grow pointy sideburns, and wear a scarf in the middle of summer.
